Etsy Canada: it’s spring market time!

Etsy Canada: it’s spring market time!

Marta checking in from team Mississippi North, letting you know that we're continuing the spring season with the always fun Etsy Canada Spring Market.

Who hasn’t spent a few hours (oops) exploring Etsy online with all those amazing talented people creating all the beautiful things? Well, at the Etsy Canada Spring Market you get to do it in person!  I am always impressed with all the talent present at the Etsy markets. If you’ve never been I highly recommend you visit. Mississippi North will be there all weekend June 8th, 9th and 10th. Best part is that not only will we be there for the Night Market on Friday June 8th but Sarah will also be LIVE PAINTING!

I love watching Sarah paint.  The question is, what will she paint...or maybe it will be a charcoal piece instead?!  Even we don’t know!

So, if you’re looking for something fun to do on an awesome weekend definitely stop by the Etsy Spring Market.  You’ll get a chance to see some live painting, meet Sarah and catch up with the Mississippi North team.  Oh, almost forgot to mention, but this will be your first chance to get your hands on the new prints in person as well.

Looking forward to a wonderful weekend!

It has been a crazy few weeks here working towards, well everthing!  The end of the school year, our new website launch (hope you are liking it so far), two new social media channels (twitter & Facebook), Craftfest, Canada Day and the Etsy Canada 150+ Market. And don't forget the great Buy Canadian Day initiative happening this Sunday, June 25th.  Needless to say the Mississippi North team has been on a productive streak lately.  Just take a peek at Sarah’s Instagram feed – she is on a creative high and we’re even planning a new collaboration project coming soon!

Hard work pays off and we’ve received nothing but love from everyone.  We are all really happy to get the online shopping experience out there for you and don’t you worry we will definitely be working to continue to grow and improve things.  As a thank you to everyone and in the spirit of celebrating all things Canadian we are doing our part to participate in the Shop Canadian event happening this Sunday in Ottawa.  Mississippi North doesn’t have a storefront or a studio space (yet!!!) so we are doing things all online.  This Sunday only use the code SHOPCA when shopping at and receive a 13% off.  Yay for happy shopping!

We are super thankful for all your support and can’t wait to keep growing!  Now back to work prepping for all the amazing Canada Day things to come!

Celebrating Canada: Etsy Canada 150 Market

Celebrating Canada: Etsy Canada 150 Market

I can’t believe that in only a few weeks we will be celebrating Canada’s 150th birthday.  A definite milestone.  So much can happen in 150 years, but one thing that has really stayed the same is the beauty found all around us in the Canadian wilderness.  You don’t have to be in the wilds of the Rockies to see just how amazing nature is, take a peek in your own backyard.  You will undoubtedly find a very curious squirrel, a mischievous racoon and if you’re lucky a grey jay might even pay you a visit.  There is so much to see if we only take a moment to look.

The Canadian wilderness, whether out in the forests or within our own backyards, is what inspired the beginnings of Mississippi North.  To honour this inspiration Mississippi North will showcase all our prints at the Etsy Canada 150 Market in Almonte on Canada Day.  So, if you want to check out all the amazing little Canadian critters or take a peak at some original art still in search of that perfect home come and visit!

Oh, did we mention that Sarah will be doing LIVE PAINTING!  That’s right!  You too can come and be creative by helping Sarah prep the canvas with some colourful spray paint.  Then stay and watch as she paints one of Canada’s most iconic animals LIVE! Can you guess which one we’re talking about?

    See you all there!

    Craftfest: Mother Nature Listened

    Craftfest: Mother Nature Listened

The entire week prior to Craftfest we were watching the weather through several weather apps.  Paranoid outdoor market people can’t just rely on one you know.  Luckily the weather held out and the winds were kind to us as we set up our booth at Craftfest this past weekend.  The venue is really unique and it is a fantastic initiative showcasing so many great Canadian artists and makers.  The pop-up shop is still going strong so definitely stop by Zibi and take a peek, or visit the weekend Craftfest markets.

Thank you so much to everyone who came this past Saturday.  Loved meeting you all in person and getting a chance to share our love of art with you.  Big thank you to the organizers and helpers.  Job well done!  Here’s to much more to come!
